South Philadelphia

South Philadelphia (Passyunk Square, East Passyunk, Pennsport)

Just blocks from Pat’s Steaks and Geno’s Steaks, the famed cheesesteak venues of South Philadelphia, this lively residential area on Passyunk Square is home to a number of boutique shops, corner cafes, restaurants, and local bars. The neighborhood is now garnering national praise for its fantastic restaurants, with Food & Wine magazine recently naming East Passyunk Avenue one of the 10 Best Foodie Streets In America. This area provides easy transportation to Center City with a residential, community feel. Larger brownstones dot the main streets and trinities built as early as the 1880s line the smaller streets, attracting young professionals who prefer a residential home over a condo or apartment.

Pennsport is Philadelphia’s riverfront enclave that’s been building up exciting momentum in recent years. The stretch between Front and Third, better known as “Two Street,” is the home of the Mummers, the bedazzled paraders who’ve been tearing up Broad Street on New Year’s Day for more than 100 years. Though a historically residential part of town, a growing number of new restaurateurs and shop owners are breathing new energy into the area, helping expand the neighborhood’s already robust identity.
